> Voice Dialling problems on P900
Bookmark topic
I have set up voice dialling as instructed in the P900 manual, but when i press and hold the jog-dial and then say the name, it always says 'No match found' ?
What am i doing wrong?

so just to confirm, you have gone into phone, edit preferences, voice control and ticked voice dialling
then you have gone to one or more contacts and recorded your voice against those?
thats all I did and it works fine here

Exactly the same, but i have only one contact at the moment.
Also, the beep tone is not very loud for some reason, vol control is turned to maximum.
I do not have the 'magic word' setup, does this matter?

no, the magic word only applies for wired headsets and car kits.
I only use a couple of voice commands for dialling so I just quickly removed those and I get the message you mentioned if I then try to use voice dialling. As soon as I reapplied my voice commands it works fine again so it is strange that it is not working for you
the only other thing I have ticked in voice control is "Play caller name" which simply plays your voice recording of the name of the person when that person calls you

Any reason why the beep tone is very quiet, i can hardly hear it?

I find the beep quite loud when I hold the phone to my ear but if you hold the phone out in front of you then you're right, you don't hear it that loud but you do see the message "speak after tone" on the screen

That's correct, i do see the message.
When you record the name of the person after the tone, do you have to speak loudly or normally?

Also remember you can set the volume level for each of the phones ring themes, Handheld, Handsfree and Car seperately, from the Sounds & Alerts menu.
Speak clearly and just above your normal voice level from about 6 inches away directly infront of the phone in a quiet area. You should then have no problems with the recognition software.
My preference is just to tick the Handsfree, Handset and Car options and talk directly to the phone, no pushing buttons etc. But that just my preferences.
RED.
