Hi.

As a select few of you might know, I run a successful WAP site, successful at least until yesterday. After months of incompetence and bluffing, O2 finally started charging for GPRS and my customers became somewhat... reduced.

I'm well aware of various hacks and options, such as the 300 GSM minutes or free GPRS on some networks when you have no credit, but it's not really permanent enough to continue doing business with.

I'm considering setting up a petition for some kind of flat-rate packages. Having had a quick search, it seems that the rest of the world do some great deals. I see that the following countries appear to offer unlimited GPRS at these monthly rates:

US: Dell $30, T-Mobile $20
India: Hutchison, $2 (!)
China: Chinanex, $24
Czech Republic: Eurotel, $34
Italy: 19€
Canada: $35USD

...so you would have thought we could manage something here, for a *reasonable* price, which Orange *doesn't* offer, AFAIK.

I think I can get about three thousand customers from my own site to sign such a petition, along with their unique WAP subscriber number and how much they'd be willing to pay for an unlimited or high-usage tariff. I'm wondering if this will have any positive effect whatsoever, and whether I can get support from elsewhere, such as yourselves.

So why would O2, or any other network, listen? Even 3,000 people paying a monthly fixed fee is more profit than 3,000 people put off using it altogether, and probably looking elsewhere. I appreciate that the service was never going to remain free forever, but I really think that in the battle between price and demand, they're way off the mark - all the people I've spoken to wouldn't mind paying extra provided the capacity was enough and the price was sensible.

Any comments or constructive criticism would be appreciated.

Cheers!
