Free WAP access over GPRS on the O2 network does indeed come to an end soon. The latest date tabled is 30/06/04. From then on access will be charged at £2.35/Mb. Eventually there will be a 5Mb 'Bolt-on' (similar to the SMS 'Bolt-ons' you can buy) available at a price (I don't know what). By definition, this means the end of free POP3 on O2 which I for one will sorely miss...
Any data bundled with your tariff though (i.e. your 500Kb) will be unaffected.

You are quite well informed my friend, however it is not coming to an end soon, it has already ended. According to the O2 Field Rep who was in my store yesterday, it came to an end yesterday. What he did say though was that so people wouldnt get stung with a huge bill for what has been free up till now, they are giving all NEW customers (pre pay and post) a free allowance of 5MB for the first 30 days following this discontinuation and then if the customer wishes, they can have a further 5MB per month for £4.
£4 for 5MB makes O2 the cheapest for Pay and Go GPRS by far so I guess it is not all bad.
