Okay, seeing as I am bored at work with nothing to do, I decided to do some leg work to settle the "Which is cheapest" argument for GPRS once and for all.

Here follows the current UK GPRS Prices for all UK Networks:

CONTRACT:

Orange

Standard GPRS Charges:
0-3 MB used = £3 per MB
3-15MB used = £2 per MB
15-30MB used = £1.50 per MB
30MB+ used = £1.18 per MB

Bundles: 3MB for £4, 7MB for £8, 15MB for £14, 30MB for £28

Vodafone

Standard GPRS Charges: £2.35 per MB (Fixed)

Bundles: 10MB of usage for £18 (and then £1.76 per MB after)
25MB of GPRS usage for £30 (and then £1.18 per MB after)

O2

Standard GPRS charges:
Up to 100kb = Free
100kb - 1MB = £2
1MB - 5MB = £1.36 per MB
5MB - 10MB = £1.19 per MB
10MB - 20MB = £1.02 per MB
20MB+ = £0.85 per MB

Bundles: £49.99 for 125MB (and then 85p per MB after)

T-Mobile

Standard GPRS Charges: £7.50 per MB

Bundles: 0.5MB for £2, 3MB for £5, 6MB for £10, 10MB for £15, 20MB for £25, 55MB for £50

PREPAY

Orange

£4 per MB

Vodafone

0.1p per KB if browsing Vodafone Live Homepage (£1 per MB)
0.73p per KB if browsing any other site (approx £7.50 per MB)

O2

£2.35 per MB or 5MB for £4 with a bundle

T-Mobile

2p per KB (£20 per MB!!!)

Okay guys, I hope that helped. PLEASE BE AWARE HOWEVER: This list was created by me with information i got DIRECT from speaking to each of the UK networks, so it should be correct, as of 11/06/2004, but DO NOT Sue/Bitch/Complain at me if its not. I did my best.

Not having a go at ya mate, as i see you've put a deal of effort in there...

But im on an 02 online contract and the price is £2.35 per mb, not the rates you've quoted for 02 contract.

Does anybody know if an 02 online contract is different to a shop one?

nice job but let me update the vodafone prices a little.

£2.35/mb is on the anytime 200, anytime 400 and anytime 1000 plans. Its costs £7.50/mb on the lessor anytime 30 and anytime 100 plans

I must admit I had never seen the budle prices before but looking them up they seem to be only for the vodafone mobile connect data card (the pcmcia card you use on latops)

on payt it costs £1/mb for live wap pages and £7.30/mb for non live wap pages

@Freestyle

£2.35 per MB is their standard charge these days I believe but the rates I quoted above apply to O2's "DataSense" tariff which they SAY all customers are automatically placed on these days when GPRS is provisioned.

If you have had your account a while it may be you are not on this tariff.

According to the March 2004 O2 Online PAYG Welcome book, O2 Online PAYG cutomers get 1MB free GPRS per month (must have a balance of 25p).
