> Backup as good as Firmware upgrade

I went to SE service center to get my Firmware updated cause my phone was hanging,program errors etc. When it came from the SE center i took backup of C: drive with nothing done to my phone ( adding contacts, pics ,ringtones) .Now can i use this backup as my firmware upgrade Suppose my phone again does hang or will i have to take it to SE center.

I think taking a backup of an "empty" phone is the same as master reset.
Updating is a whole other story. You probably had an old firmware version, so SE center updated it for you.
