Dear All SE lovers and fans..
I am wondering what is the country of manufacture of the T600?? Sometimes it is clearly printed and smetimes not.
Is there a way of knowing from the IMEI ??
Also, for the clearly printed Made in ..ones.. The are some made in Finland, China, Malaysia....
Is there any difference with respect to the firmware and year of production line ?? Which is better? Newer?? Firmware wise??
Please help me in detail
Thanks a lot..

You can check manufacturer by checking the FAC number (digit 7 and 8 in the IMEI number), this can often be used also to check in what country the phone is produced in.
My T600 is manufactured in China and has 45 as FAC, the same as my T68i which also is made in China.
The above procedure however can only be used on phones produced before 1st January 2003. Between 1st January 2003 and 1st April 2004 the FAC was 00 on all manufactured phones, after 1st April 2004 the FAC is removed and the TAC series is now the 8 first digits instead of 6 as before.
You can make an analysis of your IMEI number on

Dear Cytech..
Thanks for the knowledgeable reply, I really appreciate it. I do not have aT600 handy now, the point is I am looking for one. Is the country of manufacture not really related to the year of production/Firmware newer version ?? What is the difference in your opinion, Is the Chinese ones newer? ? Which market carries which manufacturer?? Coz I know that the T600 are only made on Finland and China ?? any preference??

don't think the place of production can be related to a certain year, maybe that the last batch of phones was produced in China.
A little interesting thing about T600, and T66 as well, is that it was manly designed by the finnish company Microcell (therefore the "Made in Finland" label on some of the phones). Microcell was founded by people who used to work for Nokia...

Dear Cytech
Hmmmm, now I got. That is really nice that the Swedish allowed that
I LOVE small Ericsson phones so actually I have bought a T66. I have some problem with it, not to mention the short battery life, I know it is natural with that size and 570mAH capacity. That is ok with me, I charge it daily. One thing really bugs me, the phone (my T66) is not really coping well with the signal as my Nokia 8290 and 6590. As you know I live in a 1900 MHz environment (Canada), so is this the reason that it may be designed for the 900/1800. or it is just the size. or...??
Moreover the phone when it looses the signal and No Network displays, when I go to well covered area. t does not see the network unless I switch it OFF and ON again.. UHH it does not a self scan and discover it by itself..
Do you think that buying a T600 will make me really happy or it is just the same as the T66??
Thanks a lot

both T66 and T600 have had problems with reception... it can be caused by several different things, old firmware, bad antenna, loose screws or (which is the cause in most cases) a bad DB ASIC circuit (a BGA circuit on T66/T600)
It's a bit difference between T66 and T600, T66 feels quite plastic and is a bit boring... T600 has much better design and feels better when using the keypad

Hi Cytech..
I am thinkng of buying a new phone. I like Ericssons a lot and I do care about the size really, reception and then Triband. Nothing else matters, color screens radio etc.. that is not that important to me.
What do you recommend, how about the T68i?? you have one so you should be be able to tell me. I like that LiPo battery..
What do you really recommend??
