> R520m how do you send SMS texts - Help

Hi all,
I'm a newbie on this forum with a R520m which I've had about a month (brought it on e-bay). The phone didn't come with a manual book or cd but I was told to download one (its for the T39 though).
Having searched thru some of the previous posts I've tried whats been recommended (sim update) but I'm still stuck.
I'm in the UK on an Orange contract.
The problem is that I can receive SMS texts but I can't send any. I've spoken to Orange who've sent a sim update which is meant to cure the problem but nothings changed. If I go to options/messages/SMS all I have is "inbox".If I go to options/messages/options/SMS all I get is "Message alert".
I've got GPRS set up fine - do I have to do something with these settings?
Am I missing something or just being thick?
Any help gratefully accepted.

Messages -> Options -> SMS -> Service center

The only option I have under Messages -> Options -> SMS is "Message alert" (something missing somewhere?).
Thanks for the tip for the manual, will download now and see if theres anything in there that will help.
Any more ideas appreciated thou.

Unfortunately the only option I have under messages is "Inbox". Theres no option to write new or even reply to one I've received.

@petet all u have to do is: use * button and the arrows for the following when your fone is in stamdard mode. RIGHT * LEFT LEFT * LEFT * a menu will come up, choose 1 then software info. R4A or sg like that is what we are looking for, so its enough the first 3 apart of it. It has to start with an R in the first line. Post it here.
