Is it just my eyes??? I know that this has been mentioned, but it really didn't hit me until I just looked at the photos taken with a Communicam and the ones taken with the built-in camera of the T610/T630/Z600. The T610/T630/Z600's are fuzzier!!! WTF?!?!? What is the reason for this again???

the communicams are VGA (640 x 480) resolution whereas the cams in T610/T630/Z600 are CIF (288 x 352)

thats one reason I guess

Well it is not only this. The communicam has better lenses and also a smaller jpeg compression. Thats why. This message was posted from a WAP device

smaller jpg compression won't improve the picture quality? it will just make them smaller

I have no idea of the technical specs of the lenses but am certainly interested if you know something about this in the communicams and the T and Z series

Thanks. Geez. I was looking at the T610/T630/Z600's photos first, and thought that the pics weren't that bad. Then I looked at the Communicam's pics and was wondering if my eyes were deceiving me, cause they looked so much sharper. Darn! I may have to start carrying my T68i and my communicam with me again. Yeesh. You think that they'd have put a better camera into the T610/T616's, wouldn't you? Geez!

Smaller compression ratio means larger files and better quality. The t6x0/z600 has 33mm lenses (this number actually means the distance between the cmos chip and the focus lense) while the communicam mca20/25 has 35mm and the mca30 has 37 mm. Making the distance larger improves picture quality but makes phone bulkier. And you cant put a large lense to such a small phone. But the camp have on problems like that cause they foot carry a battery at the back and dont have a keypad so its easier to put such lense This message was posted from a WAP device

aha! I obviously misunderstood your "smaller jpg compression" to mean the opposite of what you meant, sorry for that.

shows how much on I know on this subject but I did have the understanding that it was only at either ond of jpg compression scales that you could really tell the difference in quality but I know very little in this area

if the distance between the chip and the lens was 33mm, wouldn't that make the phone at least 3cm thick?
