My Smartmovie player keeps doing this on me. Just stops working and with a sign saying reason 0 audi codec damaged i tap continue (the only option) and the vid resumes for 3 seconds with no sound then crashes.

I reinstalled the player but the problem has not been solved!

Have you tried re-installing the codec_xvid_uiq.sis?

I had this same problem and it just happened out of the blue. Anyway, heres what I did to rectify the problem.

1. I did a backup of the phone and then reinstalled smartmovie to see if this worked. Smartmovie was now working fine again.
2. I installed my backup file back to the phone (restore) so now all my settings and programs and contacts etc were back. However, the problem with smartmovie audio was now happening again. I assumed then that Smartmovie was not liking something from my original config.
3. So I then had to take the decision that I would need to do a master reset, and re-install everything again.
4. I synced my contacts with outlook so that all entries in outlook were replaced with the phone entries and then did a master reset. I installed smartmovie and it worked fine.
5. I sysnced the phone and outlook again, but this time set the option on the PC to replace all contacts in the phone with the ones from Outlook.
6. Therefore, I lost my settings, but I managed to keep my contacts. I then had to re-install software like Opera and also had to set all my settings again, but at least Smartmovie now works...which is very impotant to me as I use it everyday.

Bit of a pain the way this problem happens though and I am not looking forward it it happens again.
