@ Danberte, your reply maybe percieved as abit harsh by some, and the quote stupid statement was'nt really necessary IMO.

Not that harsh in my oppinon.
Plain and simple.. RTFM!
On the other hand chevronsable could mean/have meant that he wants to extend the time of the display being backlit for > 10 seconds

Seemed pretty harsh to me, I wouldn't be surprised if we never hear from chevronsable ever again - the question was indeed valid, quite clear, and NOT covered in the manual.
So, to reiterate for the benefit of the original poster:
The P900's backlight stays on for approx. 10 seconds (when the phone is left idle, of course) - agreed?
The question - "is it possible to increase this time, ie: make it longer than the default 10 seconds?"
I don't have an answer to this question, but I suspect it's not possible, perhaps someone else can constructively answer this better than I.
*shrug*

elaborated, click on the top right hand icon. scroll down to "control panel". In the device panel (deafault) click on display. From here it will be easy.

You're welcome chevronsable
I haven't been able to find anything on the 'net regarding this topic. Shame, I wouldn't mind increasing my backlight fade-out time too - 30 secs or so would be nice.
This has been a problem with pretty much every phone I've ever owned - the backlight fades out too quickly for my liking.
