I've got a P900.. I had the same problem with my previous P900 that I had - my current one is a replacement:
Before I start or recieve a phone call, my signal is at full... when I make a call, the phone signal degrades.. sometimes degrades until the call is breaking up and not worth try to talk.
As soon as I hang up, the signal is at full strength again.
Because both my P900 displayed the same phonemem, is this a standard problem?

I have a P900, too. But I do not have experienced the problem you described. I got other ones. However, what I found is, that when I got a firmware upgrade the signal strength increased.
