I currently have an O2 online contract, and have noticed today that the K700i has come out. I'm due an upgrade, and was saving it specifically for this phone. However, its not available as an upgrade. I don't really want to go through the hassle of changing my number, so I would appreciate some advice from people as to how to get it without changing my number or contract. Should I ring O2 and pester them (at 50p a min)?

you could just get it on the cheapest contract available, throw away the new sim card and just use your old sim card.

Obviously you will still have to pay the contracted fee every month until the contract is fullfilled

OK, that doesnt really sound like a feasible option to me im afraid. I was also thinking of changing the contract, so this would present me with the option of just buying a new phone and contract. However, I definatly want to keep my old number, and the previous times I've tried to do this have just been met by unhelpfulness by the phone companies. Is there a method to doing this im unaware of? The websites dont make these things very clear.

The money you're gonna save by getting a new contract would easily cover the cost of sending a group text to every mobile in your phone book and ringing the rest. Unless of course you know thousands of people, thats what i do every year. You could also ring 02 and tell them you want to leave to go to another provider because you can get the phone cheaper and they may offer you a cheap upgrade.
