> P800 Emergency calls only!
Bookmark topic
The situation:
I have an open line P800.i used it for quite sometime in a network here with no problems at all. Just recently, it cant have a signal, and the message that kept on appearing is "Emergency calls only". I called the network and says my sim or account has no problem at all. I use the sim with other Units, and it worked fine. I inserted three diffrent SIMs from 3 different netwok here in my P800 and they worked fine, except my original SIM. The unit is not blacklisted. I just wonder whats causing this problem. SE Philippines says it might be caused by corruption coz it might be forced openline. And they cannot repair it.What a pity and shame on them. They didint even try to open or check the unit.I dnt know really. Pls people help me.

you sure it's not just a lost reception?
did you try it out in the open too? try moving to another location, turn your phone off and back on.

I have seen this message thoose times I've been in bad GSM-areas.
I funny thought though is how come it can call emergency calls when out of area? Are the emergency central some kind of super reciever??
If I can call to the emergency central, why cant I call the pub nextdoor... And even anywhere I want..

Maybe in this case you don't have your network coverage anymore, but the other network has a litlle coverage - so your phone selects the other network only for emergency calls.

guys, i am living in the metropolis. The city is filled with cellular sites antennas. Ive tried out in the open, inside the house, top of the roof, besides the network antenna, and still its the same "Emergency calls only". One technician here says its a very rare case. To anyone who can correctly theorize on the cause of this problem (Coz SE cannot:() i salute you. You are a genius. Thanks guys

Well, its starting to sound like a technical issue.
1. But, what you can try is to firt update the phone with latest firmware. (maybe a better support for you simcard)
2. Try to set the operator network manually. Can the phone find any??
3. Can you borrow a simcard from a friend, just to try if ANY network is working? (A different card from another network operator)
As you wrote the sim works fine in other phones. So there is something with your phone. I woudl guess an antenna-problem. maybe broken or bad quality in your ex.
If still reading here and its not working then take it to a repair center.. again.
Good luck!

Hi, I have just seen your post. I have an 8 month old P900 which has worked fine up to now. I'm getting the same problems as you, the phone keeps searching for network and displays emergency calls only in low signal areas where it used to work fine. My sim works in other phones and gets a great signal. I sent the phone back to my local SE repair people, they say they replaced the antenna and checked everything. The phone still behaves as above. I have the latest firmware update etc..etc.. As my phone is less than a year old I am going to demand a replacement, the repair people already had it for 5 weeks !! This is a very weird problem-you are not alone. Unfortunately people just say 'oh have you tried a different location...' and other really helpful things like that. There IS a technical fault with my phone because it used to behave normally and now it continually searches for network or fails to synchronise with my service provider. We have a business account with Vodafone UK and they are very helpful, they have checked all the cells in my area and nothing has changed. I will let you know if I get any results.
