> Nokia kills off the 7700
Bookmark topic
They made a huge deal about it when they announced it last October, but Nokia is quietly killing off their new 7700 smartphone even before it ever had a chance to come out. The 7700 was supposed to be their mediacentric handset, with a huge 640x320 pixel touchscreen, a built-in FM tuner that worked with Nokia’s new Visual Radio service, an MP3 player, and the ability to stream video off of the Web.

Does this mean the new Communicator will be delayed?
If i'm not wrong the new Communicator would have Series 90 UI.
But the article states Series 90 devices will be available only in 2005.
Or maybe i'm completely wrong...

are you talking about the 9500 communicator?
The article didn't say anything regarding that phone. So it's proabably still on track.
Anyway... even with the feature set... i'm happy that they'd retracted it. It seems that the 7700 holds a taco-style of answering calls (which everybody hated on the N-Gage) and IMO the formfactor and its case shape does not impress me even a bit.

the design of this device was total b*llsh*t, such pack of features and high tech doesn't deserve a taco design
it was right to cancel it, you only were able to use this phone with bove hands - thats not cool
