Hey, does anyone have an idea about the imate XDAII, by its looks and fonctionnality, its the greatest phone ever...
It has everything, just the radio fm doesn't exist on it, and maybe other little function.
But I want to know what do you think about this phone. I know its a PDA that have a phone function, but it's also great

I have one, which replaced my iPaq 1930.

Its a wonderful machine, which is hard to fault and id recommend one to anyone who needs a proper PDA (something the P900 is useless at being).

The only downsides to the XDAII is the lack of Bluetooth profiles which means the XDAII isnt compatible with all other Bluetooth phones (such as the T610 and T68), but its no major flaw. Its also rather large to use as a phone all the time, and being a PDA rather fragile. You cant drop it and expect it to survive without a scratch compared to a mobile phone.

But for the things it can do, its does them the best. Go buy one !

you can check out www.myxda.com for its details
i'm contemplating to get one myself.

The downside about this device are:
1. you'll have a hard time sms while walking or driving, you pretty much have to stay still to do sms.
2. pricey. you can get a more powerful ppc for under U$320 and then just pair it with a small phone.
3. a bit bulky compared to todays other ppc.

The upside are:
1. convergent device. no need to bring a couple of devices for the same functions.
2. cool factor.
3. you can throw away your desktop and laptop if they only things you would be doing are word, excel and browsing.
4. a ton of applications and games

Don't expect much from it's phone functionalities. You only get the basics.
it is more "PDA" than "phone".
And the battery life may be short because it's more powerful than the rest (non-Pocket PC).

Well, the XDAII is actually the most powerful PPC you can buy right now. In benchmark tests it outperforms the top iPaqs for handling graphics and other CPU intensive tasks.. so you wont get a more powerful PPC any cheaper, as there arent any out yet !

I paid £150 for mine, on O2 200mins (£30p/m) anytime which i just downgraded to the O2 25mins (£16p/m) anytime. So, you're paying for a contract you'd get with any other phone, and the PPC is only costing you £150, which is cheaper than any iPaq !

If you want to compare sizes, the XDAII is actually smaller than the top of the range iPaqs, which is great to say it also has a phone built into it.

I find the battery life on mine lasts for about 5 hours with the backlight on, with it off, it will easily last up to 8-10 hours unless you run some pretty CPU intensive apps such as 3D games.

All in all its hard to fault.
