Anybody have a P900 working with a Bluetooth hands-free kit in a BMW ?

My T610 worked flawlessly, but the P900 only appears to support the "Headset" profile for Bluetooth and not the "Handsfree" profile !! This is just dumb as it is a far more advanced phone than the T610.

Does anyone know if there is (or will be) a software upgrade to support the Hansfree profile ? Or even if this is possible to do in firmware.

I don't have a BMW, but I work with someone who does. He couldn't get his p900 to work with his car, nor would anyone elses. The phones that where tried where using different software upgrades. He ended up by getting rid of the p900 and going back to his t610.

You may have more luck with the latest firware upgrade.

Thanks. I may end up having to leave the T610 in the car and just swap the SIMs if I am on a long drive then.

Bummer.

Pretty stupid move by SE if you ask me. I hope it's fixable

welcome to Esato

as you can see from this selection of previous threads on this topic, the P800 never worked and they didn't add the required profile in the P900 so I wouldn't hold my breath now that it ever will

masseur - thanks for the selection of posts. Very helpful indeed. Now I'll go out and play around with a charger and headset to see if I can get any joy.....

mince - even with the above in mind, I won't hold my breath.

Stupid SE. I'll have to talk to the people I know that work there.

I dont have a BMW, but when I bought the car kit I went for the wired version, my collegue went for the Bluetooth one, but has since replaced it with the wired car kit.

We both work in the Mobile phone business, and the performance of getting a P900 or 800 for that matter to remain connected or even gurantee it connects with the bt call by call, even with the genuine SE car kit, was a joke, hence the wired solution.

Other benefits of the wired solution are charging while in the cradle, the ability to use an external antenna and lights always on. I know yoou can have the craddle and charging with the bt solution before you say.

Anyhow irrespective of which car you have get a wired car kit, far superior.

You know what? I REALLY do nt want to have a new car kit installed. The factory fitted BT kit is excellent with the T610 so i think I will just keep that in the car for now and switch SIMs when needed. The P900 sort of works i.e. I can answer incoming calls OK - but it is a pain in the arse not to have the full functionality in SE's flagship product that I do in the T610...
