To connect my p900 to my car radio I got an adapter to convert the socket to a regular audio jack so it would connect to my tape adapter. It works....almost...I am missing some of the audio..do I need a special 'sony' connector or should it work?

Thanks

I bought some great, custom made p800/p900 plugs from pc-mobile. http://pc-mobile.net/sp800.htm

Allthough their pages look a tad horrible, they give great service and deliver fast.

You are using a stereo adapter right? If it's a mono adapter, you'll lose one channel of sound.

Have a look at the adapter's pin - does it have one black bar or two? Stereo jacks have two, mono one.

Okay, thinking about this more... because the P900's audio jack actually accepts 3 channels (audio left, right and mic), even a stereo jack may not line up properly, thus losing one or more channels.

Either way, the product in the above link looks excellent - might have to get one of those myself ;¬)

Stereo does, in my experience line up fine, however there is the posibility that your jack is to thick to connect correctly, I had this trouble and thought the jack was mono, when i actual fact it just couldnt fit in, stupid chubby jack!

Damnit!

has anyone of u tried SP8AA, how is the quality?
Is there one without the retractable?
cos I find them not very good with all these retracting features which will wear off the wire.

As I have said before in past treads, their sales pitch isnt that convincing, they are a small company and buy their own admitance their products arnt of a good build quality, thats not to say that the sound is bad!

the outlet on the phone has 4 contacts, look at your original headphones. this is a common negative or positive, left ear, right ear and microphone. if you use a stereo jack? it only has 3 contacts so i'm guessing that it shorts out one output with the microphone?

That seems to be the case, I did get a stereo jack but some songs seemd to be missing a certain beat....or audio was quiet at some points.
