OTA (over-the air) configuration

a) To activate GPRS *and* MMS
- SET MMS send to 211
- wait for the configuration to be downloaded to your phone (up to 24 hours)
- once downloaded, you will have SmartMMS data account, and SmartMMS WAP profile, and your MMS is configured already to use SmartMMS WAP profile
- you will also receive a confirmation message that your GPRS and MMS have been activated
b) To configure internet access (full access)
- SET INTERNET T68 send to 211
- wait for the configuration to be download to your phone, in minutes
- once downloaded, you will have SmartPC data account, and SmartPC WAP Profile
- edit this account to include DNS settings. DNS IP addresses are -202.057.096.003, 202. 057.096.004. you only need one.
c) To configure WAP via GPRS
- SET GPRS T68 send to 211
- wait for the configuration to be download to your phone, in minutes
- once downloaded, you will have SmartGPRS data account, and SmartGPRS WAP Profile. SET THIS AS YOUR DEFAULT PROFILE
d) To configure WAP via CSD (Optional - kasi MAY BAYAD ITO, per minute)
- SET WAP T68 send to 211

It is FREE, until further notice. I've been using it since I got the phone (December 2001). Just use it after activation. You have to fill up a form and fax to customer service.

i went to a smart wireless center yesterday and when i inquired about gprs, the attendant told me they are charging 8 pesos per minute, just like a regular phone call. and then i asked how to activate it, she said i need to get another number (postpaid) to use this feature. is there sense in what shes saying?

What, P8 per minute? Smart has not advised its subscribers (that includes me) on the commercial rates of GPRS. My billing does not show anything yet. But you have to be on postpaid to use GPRS. No need to change the number though.

The attendant was most likely referring to the mobile data office service of smart. it's GSM data or CSD. voice call rates apply, depending on your plan and time of call.

Yep, Smart's GPRS service is still free just like Globe's. Both Telco says it's free until "further notice."
