I have ZA v5.x running on my laptop and can sync to it no problem...
Had a few issues when I first installed v5 though... sync didn't work at all. After numerous attempts at install/reinstalls over the previous/current version I solved it by doing a complete uninstall and then a fresh install.
ZA 5 works fine with the SE sync software, just make sure its set to allow all the necessary SE program modules to connect to the Internet (it doesnt really connect to the 'net just uses TCPIP as a the communication protocol).
If you're unsure what modules should be allowed, I posted a complete list of what they are in a previous thread about PC sync problems - just do a search
