Please help...and be nice...I am a newbie here
I have purchased a new (don't know wher it was found) Ericsson t39m.
I am having an issue with the microphone...The person on the other end can barely hear me.
Any suggestions?
Also, how do I determine which version of frimware I am using and how do i update it if necessary?

If you've purcased a T39 new the warrant will cover the problem with the mic.
Have a look
here to find out how to see the SW version.
That is the service menu and I suggest you have a look at the "flip count" whilst you are there to see if the phone is actually new.

I suspect the problem could be either the volumne level is set too low (although I guess you've already tried that!), or the connector from the phone's PCB to the mic in the flip. The connector often comes out of the flip or comes loose, making the mic either not work, work intermittently or work quietly.
Taking the phone apart and putting it back in isn't too hard to do, although it very, very fiddly! I wouldn't recommend doing it though if you've never taken a phone apart though! However, if the phone is new, then take it to a
service centre first, as @laffen says, as it should be under warranty and therefore fixed for free.
Did you manage to get into the service menu and have a look at the phone's flip count?

its not about FW...your flip is defective...try to have it checked @ your nearest
service center...
the phone is not covered by warranty coz its more than a year old, even if you bought it brand new from a store...

U can find the list of the services on the se web site. Hopefully they have replacement flips. How is the reception and the battery performance?
