Just curious. On my SIM-free UK K700i, under messaging/settings, there is no voicemail settings option, but on the latest PDF manual from sony ericssons website, it states there should be. Anybody else got this missing? It's a pretty crucial option for them to have forgotton to put into the firmware.

Its not missing from the firmware - just goto settings and scroll down - its the last entry on the list.

Ok...its not there on mine either. But as I explained in another thread I found a hack, holding down 1, just after switching on and finding the network.

But this may be the SIM card responsible for this. Certain menu options can be hidden depending on attributes stored on the SIM card.

I am sure you found that even though the option is missing the voicemail number was set anyway. Thats because it was on the SIM card.

I don't think this is a firmware difference..just a behaviour dependant on the SIM card.

Yeah sorry, just thought I'd post in both incase anybody else ever came across this.

It does automatically detect the voicemail number from my SIM card, but the problem is, it seem that when the phone dials the voicenumber from it's shortcuts, it dials it whilst hiding it's own ID, meaning I've got to key in my own information every time >_<.

Well, from what I've discovered, even managing to change the number, is that when you attempt to dial any number through the voicemail shortcut, it's as if trying to dial it from a land line.

As an example, I set 123 as the voicemail number (the shortcode for my operator: Orange). It gives you a dead tone like it's not recognised, but if I DIAL it manually, it picks it up no problem.

It seems like the voicemail shortcut, hides your ID automatically or some such, so that you are required to input your number, and PIN code. I would much prefer it to function like it would normally had I dialed that number myself.
