P900 Internet connect button
I keep getting failed connections when using the internet button on my p900 and when I use the internet shortcut in the menu system.
I get a message saying something along the lines of “cannot connect using the current connection please disconnect and try again” yet when I use Opera I seem to be able to connect each and every time without a problem any ideas guys?

the built in browser, which is activated by the internet button, requires a gprs/wap (or dialup) connection whereas opera requires a gprs internet connection

you should check your wap profile is set up correctly

Nitro Fan is with Vodafone (I remember because he had a thread about waiting so long for vodafone to supply a P900) but I am sure its probably something simple like his wap profile has the "internet account" setting set to preferred instead of the specific vodafone wap data accont

I use the exact same settings/account for the internal browser & for Opera browser not 2 different ones

well, you learn something every day

it seems that if you uncheck the "use wap account" tick box in wap settings the built in browser will indeed use the gprs/internet connection.

The converse does not seem to be true as opera definitly asks for an internet account (not a wap account) if one is not predefined

thanks!

Hi All
Thanks for all the helpfull input I have checked my accounts I have GSM web and wap and GPRS Web and Wap arent we vodafone customers spoiled for choice!

I have been investigating this further it seems I can choose a prefered internet account I allways connect to wap and web via GPRS to save using up free minutes on GSM, and I can choose which connection I want to use in the inbuilt browser but if I select GPRS WAP Opera starts sulking and does not like it! and I cant see any way to change the nternet access account Opera uses.
So I went back to my original choice of accessing via the GPRS Web account and hey presto the inbuilt browser stated working I have set home page as sky news wml but it is rather intermittent sometimes it will load sometimes not, most strange I have tried flushing with SMAN but it's still intermittent so I wonder if it may be a site problem? it's an interesting one isnt it!
