> How long before K700 Firmware Upgrade ?
Bookmark topic
Hi all,
I'm wondering how long people think it will be before SE provide a firmware upgrade for the K700 ??
I've only received the phone this morning and it has crashed already !! Whereas, my T610 never crashed in all the months I had it..
Does anyone know how long it took SE to provide the first firmware upgrade for the T610 when that came out.
Also, I'm really hoping we can do the firmware upgrades over the internet - it would be so much easier !
Thanks,
Mark

as I recall, with the T610 there was a firmware upgrade every month for the first few months. I would probably expect one by end of July for the K700 and I would also expect that we'll be going to the service centre to get it as I think online update is unlikely

Hi Massuer,
Do you think they might sort out the limited shortcut options as well as the more detailed search function in Contacts available in all previous SE handsets. I've got about 15 contacts starting with the letter B. On the K700 I can only enter in B and then have to scroll down and down and down and down....... Its a bloody nightmare!
OR, am I missing something?
Thx

Hi all,
I just got my K700 last week, what a great improvement (except for the li-on battery) over T610/630 series. While a firmware upgrade may bring improvements. I don't have much to complain about the K700, really.
I have around 400 contacts in my phonebook, and while multiple alphabet search would be nice (like Nokia 6600), the scrolling speed of the phonebook more or less makes up for it.
What I want, is a BST-30 battery cell with lithium-polymer.

It is always worth it to take your phone on a firmware update. Unless your service centre tells you that it will take about a month like mine did. Then i just walked about 100m to the next store and got it done in about a half hour.

its rare that we get any clues as to what they will fix in the next firmware, and even when the firmware becomes available its rare that we actually know what has changed except from observation or the occasional info that cytech is able to get hold of
all we can do is hope that

listened to what people like us wanted when developing the K700, which maybe why its such a step forward, and continue to hope that they listen to the problems we experience and do something about it

I had an email back from SE support saying that there are no updates at present. I had gathered this already
I was actually asking them when it was likely, which they didn't answer

I bought my fone yesterday and noticed the firmware version is at R2C001, the faq mentions an R2AXXX firmware as the latest.
Can someone else confirm that I have a new firmware release or is it an Orange specific firmware version?

I have heard that they are working on a firmware; the new firmware will decrease the power consumption when using the phone and thereby fix the stand-by time. They are also addressing some Bluetooth problems, like the phone shutting off. They might be fixing a lot others, but these 2 things I’m pretty certain of.
