> Can I use a k700 in the US?

Hello,
I am planning on purchasing an SE k700 but I am not sure if it will work with my service provider. I called up Cingular and they told me that since it uses a 900 band rather than the 850 band that its preffered in america, I'm only going to have the 1900 band working. When I asked whether or not I'll get worse service, the cingular rep told me he didnt know since he's never heard of the phone. So I turn to the Esato community: Do you believe I will have service in america if I'm using a European phone?

whaasup . . . and yes , you can use in the u.s. and dont worry , thats why is triband so you can use it , in fact there are some e-shops that are selling the k700 already . . . cheers !!

Yes, the k700 will work in the US. It is already on sale here in the US at several online stores such as expansys-usa. The phone will work with Cingular, AT&T, and T-Mobile. However, since Cingular and AT&T primarily use the 850 MHz GSM band, your best bet is T-Mobile which uses a true 1900 MHz GSM band and is the only real GSM provider in the US. I use T-Mobile and plan to by the k700 in august!

www.myphoneworld.com for like...335 us. not bad. yeah you can use it in the US, just toss your SIM card in and turn it on

@t668iNWO I spoke to Cingular the other day and the end result is that Cingular has next to no 850 mHz sites. This somehow became popular conception, but it is false, the majority of 850 sites belong to AT&T. All 850 expansion by both companies has been halted until the outcome of the merger is known according to my conversations with tech support. All GSM providers in the U.S. have roaming contracts with each other and you will be able to get 1900 mHz almost everywhere GSM exists in the U.S.
My experience driving cross country is that this is true. I have had phones side by side, one with 850 and one with 900 and the service all over the U.S. was nearly identical. any unlocked tri-band phone should work just fine on any GSM provider in the U.S.
