@ alg
There is no problem with your phone, nor this is a problem. When you click a photo in room light condition (not extremely bright) the pictures are grainy. But in normal light conditions picture quality is excellent.
When taking pictures in dim light use flash (on/off by pressing 5 key). Its effect its up to 30 to 50 cm only but the pictures won't be that grainy.

You can also increase the brightness a little with the volume key.

IMHO pictures taken in anything less than good daylight or ambient light are practicallyworthless coz they're very grainy, and the light is not much help. That's to be expected though and not a fault in the camera.

I guess the original question was WHY the picture in the viewfinder (before capturing) looks sharp & great but not after capturing the picture. Note that ambient light before & after capturing is constant.

There will allways be a difference between what you see in the viewfinder and the actual picture after you've taken it - in any camera.
The viewfinder does not display the picture exactly as it will be - its not a live view of the quality after being processed - but a view of what information is send to the camera for processing. It displays what the lens of the camera picks up with some simulation of how it expect the picture to be in the current lightingsituation etc. - after that, when you press the button - the camera has to process that information, and the quality of this process depends on many factors, like how steady you hold the camera in the actual shootingtime, and the quality of the camerasoftware that process the information, and the quality of the compression algorythms that compress the raw picture to jpg, etc. etc.
Besides that the smaller highresolution screen will hide most of any grayniness you might be able to see once the picture is shown in its true size on for instance a pc.
