Which is the latest version and where can I download this latest version?

Searching through past threads, it seems that there are some pros and cons upgrading to the latest firmware. From what I read, the menu is slightly faster now (and so is input), but for some arises the problem of bad GPRS connection which leads to 're-booting' of the handphone.
I will be getting my T39 very very very soon, and I intend to hook it to a Bluetooth headset and my Palm m130 PDA (through Bluetooth of course) and do some occassional syncing with AvantGo, surf WAP sites(and maybe go on to surfing the Internet too) and email using GPRS.
Besides that, I would like to be able to dial from my Palm and talk using the wireless Bluetooth headset* (it will be a HBH-10) and also SMS using Graffiti on my PDA as I intend to make the handphone as 'transparent' as possible - i.e. I would not have to use the phone a lot except to setup the Bluetooth connection. With Bluetooth, I doubt I'll need to use the IR.
Having said the above, you reckon there is a need for my to upgrade to the latest firmware, if the firmware that came with the T39 I will be buying works fine? I wouldn't really mind if the menu or the text input is slightly slower. What I'm afraid is whether if the strange problem of the phone 're-booting' using GPRS will affect my PDA or not, or other funny problems that supposedly came with the new firmware. For PCs, it's a golden rule of thumb to keep your system as updated as possible, but can the same be said for handphones?
Lastly, would it be necessary to go for the Standby fix?

* - Since I've mentioned it here, I would like to ask if this is possible or not - to dial from my Palm through Bluetooth and talk using the wireless headset automatically without having to do any setups (besides the initial Bluetooth setup). And how would you be able to netowrk these 3 devices together simultaneously?

only if your phone is manufactured around week 10 this year and you only gets around 70h in standby, no matter what battery you use.... then your phone needs the standby fix.

Erm, how am I suppose to measure 70 hours? Leave it on standby for about 3 days?

you can see it... just enter the status window (pressing down the volume button on the side) you see how much standby you have... if this is only showing around 70h, even if the battery is fully charged your phone has the standbyproblem.

about the 're-booting' problem when on GPRS, it is much worse on the earlier fw versions and when synching avantgo you have to set your avantgo client to 'use secure connection' so as to avoid the t39m from re-starting.
with version r4a008 most of the bugs are fixed and re-boots have become rare. just most t39m users tend to want the perfect upgrade. you can't blame them, the t39 is a reliable and useful phone - its owners just want to make it perfect. :lol:

@greeneye, in my case the older firmware had better GPRS performance, and no reboots at all. I used to have r2g and except for the SMS ID bug, and having a bit slower interface, i already like it. I have these reboots!
