In my new K700, Vodafone has changed the function for the right menu key to go to their WAP-site, instead of the menu where you can activate IR/bluetooth and so on. This is really stupid, since there already is an "online" button on the right side of the phone.

Obviously this can be changed since Vodafone did it. How do change it back, so that the right menu key to display the "More" menu instead of Vodafone's site?

Welcome to Esato.
Unfortunately u have made a huge mistake by buying a SE from Vodafone. They truely ruin the phones!!
U cannot change that button back nor can u put the menus icons back to their correct positions! Also Voda have prevented your nice new phone from using MP3s as ringtones!!
utterly disgraceful isn't it!

Anyway the only way to fix these problems is to get non-branded firmware put on the phone, which is not allowed. Maybe u can still go back to the shop & cancel the deal but if not at least learn NEVER to buy a Voda branded ever again!

O2 one will always be in boxes & unlocked etc. but I think the ones for Orange will soon be branded. It's often the case that u can get unbranded ones before the network mess about with them.
Indeed some people got unbranded phones on a Vodaphone tariff at first but now they are ruined!

Hey... i have just received the K700i as an upgrade on Orange... I have to say that they have also taken the 'more' button away and it's damned annoying! It's got the camera button on there instead and why? I haven't a clue because it has a damned camera button on the side?! Why double up? What? We're so stupid that we need reminding that there is a camera on my phone!!!!! Grrrrrr! then I went into my icon screen and found that taken the shortcut menu away from the top left!? And replaced it with Orange downloads! Right next to the icon for Orange WAP!? to say that they have just ruined a brilliant phone is an understatement! I am so miffed it's untrue! Is there anything... ANYTHING I can do about the changing the icon on there!? I would be very happy with telling orange that they suck! I would really appreciate some help here... Changing to my line 2 on this phone is like trying to navigate the titanic in an iceberg convention!

I spoke to a company that works with unbrandning of phones. The only way to get rid of the branding (the "more" button, the menus, the icons) is to unbrand the phone - which basically means you put in the original operating system. What also happens when you unbrand the phone, is that the sim-lock (which makes the phone only work with the branding operators sim-modules) is disabled.

When you buy a branded Vodafone Live!-mobile in Sweden, it says that "it's forbidden to remove the sim-lock". The interesting thing is that it says "forbidden" and not "illegal". Probably because it isn't illegal. And then Vodafone forbids it, but since they did a really stupid modification of the operating system, I don't really care.

I'd like to find the person who came up with the stupid "taking away the more-key and replace it with an online- or cam-key", rip off his/her leg and beat them to death with it. Just like Dogbert.

why do your networks like messing with the phones' firmware?

Here in the Philippines they used to attach logos but not anymore. and I've never of a network that messed with the firmware.

'sall about the benjamins dawg.

consider that when a Vodafone UK customer presses the "Live!" button they have access to thousands of ringtones (about £2.50 each) and hundreds of games (about £5 each)...if a network can make this really easy to access then the customer is more likely to use this service therefore earn Vodafone stacks of cash so they can pay the British goverment the £6bil odd that they were charged for 3G licences!!

simple!

and besides, O2 do brand some of their phones, take a look at an XDAII for example, loads of software branding on that.

Another stupid thing about Vodafone, is that they advertse so damn much for their Live-crap, and if you compare with other operators (here in Sweden anyway) they are daaamn expennsive on GPRS. It costs about 10x more than on Telia or Comviq. Now THAT is sick!

Never Vodafone for me.

Hi all,

I am in love with this phone since I bought it 2 days ago, but not as much as I would like to be, due to the fooking the vodafone tampering.

I got my phone as a free upgrade from vodafone, so I could not care less about the warranty. Can you guys let me know where in London/UK I can find people to do the unbranding / reinstalling of SE's untampered firmware?

Alternatively, I can try to sell it on ebay and buy an untampered one. But that seems quite a bit of hassle.

Which route should I go down?

Also, please tell everyone to write to / call vodafone and complain about their fooked up marketing strategy.
