has anyone encountered any problems on the sony-ericsson website update very recently or can anyone try and access it to determine wether its me or the site - when i go to update i get right to the end (cos my current firmware is R4B01 so i need the new R6A03) and nothing happens it just says:
Please wait...
Checking the installation of Sony Ericsson Update Service.....
and thats where it stays..... any ideas??

it doesn't like Microsoft's version of Java, download the latest SUN Java and it'll work.

I done everything on that thread and also downloaded the SUN Java but still get the same problems as the origonal poster of this thread.

I never go for those automatic installs....they never work exactly how they're supposed to.

What worked for me was the J2SE 5.0 Beta 2. I first uninstalled all previous versions of the java software on my PC and updated the P900 PC suite software to 2.4.1. (Using Windows XP SP1)

Get the J2SE 5.0 Beta software here:

http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp

After the download I closed my IE broswer and opened the SE page again. Worked without a hitch.


BTW - Don't choose the web installer... download the "offline installer"

(Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language (jre-1_5_0-beta2-windows-i586.exe, 13.87 MB)
