I have Outlook 97 so I couldn't sync direct. I exported my contacts to a csv file and loaded up into Windows address book and tried to sync that but the lovely software that Sony Ericsson supplied didn't work, it just hung all the time. Nice one guys.
This is what I did to get round it all.
- I exported to a csv file from Outlook
- I converted this to a vcf file. I believe
http://www.joshie.com/projects/dawn/features.html will do it but I used a pearl script in Linux (and then this converted to DOS!)
- I transferred that vcf file over using a bluetooth connection, the P900 was clever enough to see what was happening and then write this as new contacts.
Easy really. I am disappointed with the Sony Ericsson software though.
I hope this helps people.

Yes you can, select one or all your contacts in your phone with the contact manager and send it via bluetooth or infrared to your PC.

Yeah, I know that mate but it automatically saves them in Outlook or somethin stupid.
I just want a way to have the phone book as a single file on the PC which I can easily send back to the phone.
PS welcome to Esato

My old T300 used to send it as a single file called 'whole phonebook' over IR, I'm not sure how the T630 & K700 will work so I'll try them.
Do u think there is a .vcf file in the phone somewhere that can be extracted with a file manager?

Yes, it's called SmartVCard and is available on handago. I bought it when I was getting frustrated on Friday night, it keeps crashing when I run it though! So don't buy it.

Cheers for the tip, don't worry though I never 'buy' any s/w for a phone. There are plenty of 'other methods' for getting it!
What I mean though is does the phone itself store contacts as a .vcf anywhere? If it does then it would be easy to extract it with a file manager like FileMan from symbianware.
