> 2 Major Problems with K700i
Bookmark topic
I upgraded my T610 to the new K700i yesterday thinking I would essentially be getting the same phone but with a few new features (MP3 player, better camera & video).
My advice is don't bother if you are a business user and rely heavily on using your phone as a backup for contacts and calendar entries.
Having synched my new phone with outlook i discover that although on the surface the Calendar view looks the same as that on the T610 it is in fact not. You know those useful arrows that appear at the bottom of the week view to warn you that you do actually have something booked in later on that day (8pm and onwards) don't actually exist on the K700i. They appear to warn you that something is happening at the very start of the day, but not at the other end of the screen.
And the most annoying feature of all missing which seems crazy is that although the "company name" information appears where it should when you edit a contact on the K700i - it doesn't appear in your phonebook list when you simply scroll through the names. Instead all you get is a long list of numbers which is useless.
Am I the only person to have noticed these tiny but very serious flaws in the software - both were not a problem on the T610. So why have Sony changed it now??
So in summary - where have those arrows gone from the calendar that tell you there's an appointment lower down the screen later in the day?
And why can the K700i not cope with a Company Name only as a contact?
I look forward to hearing from anyone with a cure because i am just 2 hours away from returning the phone to the shop.
Thanks
Steve

In the contacts list u can view other numbers & info by pressing left & right when on a contact.

I realise that. But you would have to go through the whole list before finding the right contact. The T610 would list all contacts without a name at the end of the contacts list by company name. No such thing is possible on the K700i. All you get is a list of "No Name" and numbers.
I have just over an hour to go before returning the phone. Any other ideas or solutions????????!!!!!!!!

I dont understand the question about company name
On my t610 it does not have a company name field in the contact database and therefore does not show company name when scrolling the contacts. T610 only has fields for different phonenumbers and only show name when scrolling. Therefore if I need to see companyname I need to write both name and company name in the same namefield. K700 show both name and below the phonenumbers which can be scrolled sideways - which is more than my T610 shows.
Aha - you posted while I was writing - I think I understand now

These minor flaws are not worth for returning the phone back to the shop.

But if all you're getting is an improved camera and the capability of taking video (poor quality at that) and playing MP3's why would I ditch the T610 which does the job better???
If you got a phone call from a client and wanted to see if you were available on your calendar - you'd have to scroll down to find out. Why can't they update the software so at least that features works like it does on the T610.
I can live with the Company name thing in the contacts. I'll just copy it into the name field.

Happen,
Thanks for your comments. You've been very unhelpful. I'm making a valid point and just wondered if anyone knew a way round it.
You quite clearly haven't read my original post otherwise you wouldn't be mentioning Calendar within a contact???!!!!!
What are you on about?

@ TheRealSpawn
u need to go to:
>phonebook
>options
>contact info
>u now can check additional fields to be shown in contacts.
@ The Hammer
it's hard to get exactly what u mean, mainly because I never use company name, but is it the way that the T6x0 shows Company name as well as contact name one the same line?
I've not got the K700 with me at the moment so I can't test unfortunately
PS check ur PM
Edit: interesting.....
@ Happen, hmm u deleted that post. Why?

The K700 isnt a business phone anyway (its aimed at the youth market), so SE dont put too much effort into making the company name field too prominant.
If you want a business phone, buy a cheap P800 or a new P900.
