greets everyone! this new P800 user needs a bit of help. anyway here's the narrative story :
my dad had a P800, now he got a P900 so i got his P800 Been messing around with it. btw i think P900 is sweet i wouldn't dislike it.

What I've done :
1. Connected a SyncStation and bluetooth USB adapter to the comp.
2. Installed SE Suite
3. Decided to do away with the Sync Station and choose to make bluetooth fill for it completely.
4. Found out that I could "beam" the following from the phone to the comp : contacts, and calendar items. AKA vCard (vcf) and vCalendar (vcs) files. guessed i can beam to any other phone as well. bluejacking-ready!
5. managed to pair the phone and comp.

current problems :
1. cannot send anything from comp to phone. even with vcard files, if i right click -> send to... -> bluetooth there's only "other..." cause mRouter doesn't have any "known devices" maybe. "other..." scans for bluetooth devices that support *something* service, i'm guessing ftp. since mine doesn't have whatever service it wants, it's not listed. no go.
2. cannot send anything else from phone to comp. no pix, music, video, etc. phone says "failed to transfer entry"
3. when i go to "bluetooth neighbourhood" and connect to p800 bluetooth serial port, the comp says "the remote device closed the connection" but phone blinks blue more rapidly than usual and bluetooth status says "connected". and...
4. mRouter properties says bluetooth in COM5 is connected, but "change device" doesn't list anything. so of course the rest of SE suite can't detect the phone either.

Info I found out :
1. i can only "connect bluetooth serial port" when my phone's setting is "on", not when it's "discoverable" weird. probably it's meant to be that way with paired devices.
2. my comp detected following services in my phone : "bluetooth serial port" and "dial-up networking" should there be more?
3. Firmwares : Phone R2F, Bluetooth R5A, Organiser R2B03, CDA R4A02

only things i can do now :
1. update firmware tomorrow.
2. see if anyone here knows how to solve any of the above problems
3. toy around more.

thanks in advance, don't kill me for the long post. btw my previous phone was a philips xenium 9@9++, the one that lasts about 2 weeks for each charge. it was black and white and not rich in functions. this is my first "smart" phone.

cheers

I haven't tried sending anything from comp to phone using bluetooth, but wouldn't it make more sense to use the syncstation for that?
If you are sitting at the PC, the phone is likely to be close at hand too.

I think the Bluetooth connection is more for accessing your PC from the phone, or for using your phone as a modem from the PC. It isn;t (currently) designed to act as a file transfer system.

If you do find a way to get it working please let me know, as I'm just about to buy a USB Bluetooth adapter for my PC.

Good luck

well the SyncStation was about the same... mRouter Properties would say "connected" on COM15 USB, but nothing appears on "Change Device"
anyway SyncStation is a "USB serial port" so according to sony, "bluetooth serial port" is about exactly the same. that's why theoretically i thought it could replace SS. Anyway, whatever their problems are they're about the same anybody knows what to do?
oh btw, of course i've installed the device first then SE suite, undid everything , did it the other way around etc. i've tried all the possibilities none worked. :P:P
cheers!
