Ok i finally got my K700i and it's a nice phone (apart from i had to get it on orange and thier changes to it are shit but that's not the point!) BUT... i can't figure out how to send a txt msg properly! -might sound really stupid but when i go to the 'messages' icon on the desktop, then click the 'write new' it just looks like the t610s mms? Do i really have to then choose 'add' and then 'text' all to write a simple message?! I did this because i couldn't find any other way of writing a txt but then i realised that if i 'preview' it it plays it like an mms?

Please tell me i'm just being stupid!

It seems like you are writing a MMS...

On my K700i, after choosing 'write new' I'm asked to choose either SMS or MMS. If choosing SMS the procedure of writing is similar to the procedure on the T610...

Is it another "blame Orange"...?

Mate, u are definately making an MMS! Does yours screen also show a blue arrow, page 1/1 & 1KB? That is the new MMS screen.

The new text screen says 'Write New' at the top then has a white box for ur text & little icons at the top showing if capitals & T9 are on. Also there is NO 'Add' on this screen!

On the desktop:
>Messaging
>Write New
>Text Message (2nd option says Picture msg)
>Now u should be on the 'Write New' screen as described above.

Also what shortcut was assigned to 'Left' on the joystick in standby mode. Mine goes straight to the screen where u choose between write new 'Text Message' or 'Picture msg'

Yeh my page does show the blue arrow and 1/1!

I follow the instructions in the manual (like you listed) but i don't seem to have a txt/sms option it just goes straight from 'messages' to 'write new' then it opens a new blank mms (with 1 of 1 at the top and 'add' as the left softkey option!?

Could be that Orange haven't enabled Txt messages from your new phone yet. Has happened to me pretty much everytime I've changed my handset. Quick call to them, a sim update or two (or eight for my old SPV) and you may find you're up and running... or it could be something else!

Worth a try tho baby
