> Faulty K700 - just my luck! (
Bookmark topic
Finally got my hands on my K700i sent from O2 Online as my upgrade after it was hidden from me for 2 days by my boss who neglected to tell me it had been delivered!
I love the phone, apart from one serious problem: it can't receive phone calls.
The handset hangs for about 6-8 rings, then just kicks in with "Answer" etc etc, but you can't press anything, and you then get diverted to Voicemail.
D'ya ever get the feeling SE have forgotten the true meaning of a 'mobile phone' when writing software?
I knew about losing apps/games, but I thought I'd try a master reset to see what would happen - but no, still happens. So I'll be calling O2 back tomorrow
Has anyone else seen this bug before? I can't find any mention of it in the search.
I know its only software, but I doubt there's anywhere local to Derby that could sort it out on the spot, and hate going to Nottingham, so back in the post and 7-10 days wait again.... I could cry....
My P900 was stolen last month too, and the insurance company are being a pain and initially declined my claim.

Andi..
Never Do a Master-Reset,,,However much people suggest as the Phone looses its essential files in the process..See I had 5 replacements of Z 600 and now my K 700 i runs awesome..I suggest its the problem with the Damn' O2 service..not the phone..See if you can get a replacement...or get the firmware and software re-loaded..Bad luck on losing your P-900..Try to work a way out with the insurance company and if they still don't relent..and u feel that u have a strong case and genuine reason to fight then send them a legal notice and take them to consumer court..This will defenitely get u your money in NO-Time.. Lucks Buddy

I knew the phone was faulty, so I didn't see the harm in doing it

I'll be sending it back anyway, as I can't be bothered with trying to get it flashed and fixing it myself, now that I've slept on it. *sigh*
As for the P900 - I'm writing the appeal today. I'm sure it will go ok, as they say I left the phone unattended when it was stolen which is not what I said at all. The guy who took the claim over the phone had selected hearing and just seemed to dislike me from the word 'Hello'. Never have this problem when I talk to female staff at Lifeline!!

Well he has 7 or 14 days to send it back under the distant selling regulation (cant remember exactly) even if the phone wasnt faulty. He also has 6 months repair or replacement under the sales of goods act from the point of purchase, plus 12 months se warranty and any extra insurance. So he is pretty well covered as a consumer without the need to start threatening legal action just yet ;-) bad luck, i hope ur next k7 is ok.

orangeman: It's my stolen P900 which is the legal-battle thing, not the faulty K700i
As for the K700i... When you call the phone, it completely freezes. The animated background stops and none of the buttons respond. The phone is ringing (at the other end at least) but there's nothing you can do. After about 6-7 rings it finally chirps into life for about 1/2 a ring before it drops to voicemail. Even on that half a ring, you can't answer the phone - the keys still don't respond.
Kinda useless

Yup, Derby is fine for 3g signal on '3', Vodafone and Orange. I've used both the Voda and Orange data cards, so I know they work well. And I know the '3' signal is fine too.
Bit OT though

hmm. There is/was an issue with panasonic GD87 constantly re-booting. This is because it was trying to log onto or was being interfered with by a 3G transmitter.
I hope K700 doesn't do the same, remember the NO ACCESS error on the T68/i .......

This is going on what orangeman said so forgive me if I'm wrong. But if it was that your k700 was actually trying to use another network or a 3g network would deleting all the other networks in your prefered network settings just so you only have o2 uk left maybe cure the problem. I doubt it would but it's worth a try.
