Does anyone know if i go buy a phone from carphone warehouse, the link etc, can i buy an unbranded handset on contract instead of having a phone from orange, VF etc. I want to buy a k700 but don't want one with a networks own firmware on, so could i get an unbranded one and a contract sim or would i have to fork out £300 for a sim-free?

My local CPW had loads in stock last week all unbranded, to be sold as sim free and unlocked, or to be issued if taking out an O2 contract.
