Yesterday i received confirmation from Vodacom(Africa's Leading Cellular Network) that the S.E P910 is coming to South Africa in October 2004 and the P900 is NOW discontinued.

Do any of you know what the P910 looks like. What are the differences between P900-P910 or is it a 3G smartphone.

There is no infomation on S.E sites and S.E South Africa knows notthing about this phone.

I am a Vodacom trade partner and i got this confirmation from the buyer of Vodacom.

Is the one with codename Layla. It has a qwerty keypad inside the flip and maybe Wi-Fi. We don't know the specs yet.

@ Tahir: How come we have never had our own model numbers before? We normally just get the same as Europe, but with EU_2 software.

Unless they have added Afrikaans as a new language and decided to change the model number too....?

Hey Tahir Ally,

You're 100% correct. Teljoy also received this e-mail from VSP. As of NOW the P900 is discontinued and the P910 will be available in October.
Pretty weird how VSP can say that they will have it in October if SonyEricsson themselves haven't "officially" said they're manufacturing it yet.
Anyway, I e-mailed SonyEricsson here in South Africa yesterday telling them about the e-mail and if this is true - is the P910 coming out in October? Is the P900 discontinued? What info do they have on the P910.
So here's the reply I got from them today:

Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson on the World Wide Web.

Answer:
The production, selling and supporting of P900 has not stopped. The network as a supplier are in a position to buy the phones they want. We do not have any information on the P910 as yet on our website.

Please contact us again if we can be of further assistance and also visit our website at www.sonyericsson.com for more information and support on our products You may also register now for great content and fantastic Web and WAP services at www.sonyericsson.com/fun.

So does this mean that SonyEricsson themselves have absolutely NO clue about the P910? If so, how can VSP be so certain that they're getting the P910 in October?

I really want to get a P900 next month (upgrading on my contract), but should I wait for the P910? If the only difference is the qwerty keyboard, new outer keyboard and maybe wi-fi, well, I then don't think it's worth the wait.

Anyone have more info on this topic?

Thanx.

Rapidblue.
