Dear Friends I happen to stay in China where all these small theft incidents are very common. I just want to know that is there any way I can lock my P900 if it gets stolen so that the same is useless to the person who steals the same.

Buy a solid box with a even solid lock and a chain.
Put P900 in box
Lock box
chain the box to a immovable solid object

Of course, you may note down your IMEI and tell your operator to block it if its stolen. This aint fool proof.. and moreover depends on how good this is implemented in china

To get IMEI, dial *#06#

@ apandey

you first half of the suggestion seems more appealing & fool proof only problem will be to unlock the same with time before an incomming call gets auto disconnected before answering it.

Any way for IMEI number blocking they do not have any such service by the the operators out here>>>>>>>>>>>>>>. any other suggestions?

There are a few basic ones.

You have sim pin lock - called a pin1, for when you power on the phone.

A phone lock, which locks a sim to the phone, so if it is changed it will ask for the code.

You also have a restricted dialling phonebook - named pin2 - this can lock your sim to only allow upto 9 pre-defined numbers to be dialled.

Most average theives will not get past these.

Then there is the above which is blacklisting. This a fairly complicated but can be overcome by people who know.

Use the wrist strap.
You could even buy a Rhodesian Ridgeback and attach the wrist strap to it's lead I'm sure if the phone was to go I'm sure they would both soon return.

Leave it at home then no one will steal it if you leave it lying around

Oooh... if it appeals to you...
Use the solid box...
and use the handsfree

@orangeman had probably suggested most that can be done
Of couse what you really need to do is to avoid it to get stolen. That's probably not what a P900 is meant to be for.

Thanks guys you all are really gems but the best one just came in from my wife who has designed a special snatch proof device for me. It is basically an old retractable keychain which she has modified the same with snap on/off lanyard hook and one end is looped with my belt hook & the other end is with lanyard hook which is attached to the phone. So now even if someone tries to snatch the same it is not possible for him to flee with it.

Thanks to my dear wife.
