Hi,
Well I just bought this USB Ir-Da port, The problem is that when I try to interface with the phone nothing happens..in more simple terms..Like when you establish infra red connection windows desktop runs a send file to Ir-Da device program..That does not come..
I'm using Windows XP Professional, Phone is K 700I..I had tried an earlier Ir-da device made by BAFO..That worked with my Z 600..So is the phone or just the Ir-Da device..

I know nothing about your particular problem, but I'd definately recommend taking the USB IrDa thing back to the shop and get a USB Bluetooth Adapter.
Far better in my experience.

There is no reason why a BT adapter is any easier to set up. IR doesn't require pairing, for instance. It also does not require a reboot for installation. Average set up / learning time for BT: 1 hour, IR: 10 minutes.
You can always try to change the settings of the IR adapter under device manager, but it's hard to tell whether it's the phone or the adapter, unless you have an additional device to isolate the culprit. Since you have used the BAFO before, I assume you are familiar with the operation of IR, since there isn't really a separate "program" to run in Windows to transfer. You just right click on the picture/midi and choose "send to IR"

Ah... I'm a Mac user so average set up/learning time for Bluetooth = ~30seconds! Plug in and go... no installation necessary...

Well..Now you all got me more confused..Windows XP used to start a program called send files to nearby computer thing ..Sadly the program is not working but the system is recognising the Ir Port and there is no interaction with my K 700i...What bluetooth should I pick up..Is there anything in particular that I should look for compatibility...
Is BT that hard..Never used one on the PC..will it work on its own..Plug n Play types ..!

How about uninstalling your irda and then reinstalling it again, I had to do this once.

I can recommend the TDK Systems "go blue" USB adapter. Great phone and headset support in the software.
You can use the BT SW to access most phone features.
The BT Remote Control feature of the phone is supported.
It is more expensive than other adapters, though.
