Aside from being able to get it with the online tariffs from o2's website, is there any difference in what I get for where I buy it from? Will CPW do firmware upgrades if i've bought it elsewhere? What's the general opinion of o2 online's services, billing , etc. ? Thanks

To be honest mate, i bought my k700i yesterday from CPW and th eonly reason i did was cause i made them price match from another shop whiich i wont mention (Phones4u ). CPW are always the best to buy from cause of their loyalty services which will upgrade your phone for free. But the best thing about buying SE phones are that theres always somewhere where you can get the settings quick and easy, thanks to esato anyway
buying online is not a good idea cause the o2 website is pretty useless, but i suppose im being biased cause i have a oinling payg sim!!

Just go to CPW and ask them as many questions as you need, making sure you dont get less than what you wanted and sooner or later they'll either give you a better deal, or reckomend someone who will!!

the only main difference is you get to talk face to face to someone with cpw. This message was posted from a P900

Thanks for your replies. Obvoiusly I would prefer to buy from CPW rather than online, but the extra 400 texts per month from o2 online's tariffs are still quite appealing. What about the firmware updating thing? Would CPW do it regardless of where I bought it? (kind of important from reading the probs people are having with the k700)

Sorry, I meant would CPW update the o2 firmware even if I didn't buy it there?

Despite being a great fan of the internet, all it stands for and what it provides, I too prefer a voice or face when buying. However I recently put my wife onto O2 online 200 with a Nokia 6230 for which I paid £49.99. Within 8 days it was free on their website and after couple of calls, they refunded me by way of account credit. My wife sends about 250SMS per month and makes about 150 mins of calls. From this you can tell her bill has remained just line rental. I am debating going for O2 Online 400 when it is released (£45) or 3 Videotalk 750 (£35), that is how impressive I have found the online package. It's a bummer 50P per min to call CS but you can't have everything and how often do you need to call when you have a decent network provider. I made 5 calls to people on 3 (NEC E616 & Motorola A835) this week and they all DROPPED!!! O2 Online is the way to go and firmware flashes are available just about anywhere for free!!! Another benefit is 0845(lo-call) & 0870 (national) are included within the allowance, unlike some of the competitiors and I think the online tariffs offer better value than any other major network, including T-Mobile.

I bought a T68 offline from a dodgey shop and CPW did a firmware update for me free. Im hoping that even though i have an 02 online K700 now, that CW will do a free upgrade when the firmware becomes available!!

hi i'm with o2 online. the only really downside to being with them that i can see is not having a bill delivered to your house. but u do get an email and check online but its not really the same. also if anything does go wrong with the phone any o2 store can act as your access point to customer relations etc. so really i think its the better way to go. and the '3' network is seriously bad. stay clear

CPW will up date the firmware of ANY phone from ANY network. Within 12 months it will be free when you show them your receipt. outside it might cost buit i have not tried that yet.

also there are a few o2 "repair stations" now that can update firmware and repair phones. they are in London, Slough, Newcastle, Plymouth, Cardiff and Sheffield.
