Hi There,

My SIM card is from T-mobile. It used to be in my Samsung v205 phone (900/1800/1900). When I inserted the T-mobile SIM card in my new K700i, power-up and it did a search, the screen says “Cingular Wireless” as the provider. I thought it would say “T-mobile.”

Anybody know why this is so???

I get mostly 100% reception in my apartment (Los Angeles). I am just wondering why the screen says “Cingular Wireless,” which is T-mobile’s competitor, isn’t it??? I know Cingular Wireless merged/bought out AT&T Wireless, but why DOESN’T my screen say T-mobile as the provider. My account, contract, and SIM card are from T-mobile. I made many calls on the K700i, and all the calls shows up on my T-mobile monthly statement.

Do you think T-mobile America has a contract with Cingular Wireless??? Any cell phone guru who know what’s going on, please post. Thanks. Sorry if this is a retarded question.

I've been reading too many cell phone posts. People say Cingular uses 850 mhz and T-mobile uses 1900 mhz in North America. The K700i is 900/1800/1900, so now I'm confused.

My Sony Ericsson K700i = from eXpansys USA (which is from the UK), unbranded and SIM-free, EU version, firmware = R2A041.

Regards,

Ps.

The screen sometimes freezes/stalls/lags (for a second or two) when I move fast between icons/functions/menus etc., as if the software is trying to catch up with me. Maybe I’m used to jumping fast between screens. Any ideas or problem with your K700i doing this???

It's cause you're roaming and T-Mobile doesn't charge for roaming. This message was posted from a T616

That is correct. You are using the 1900 band. T-mobile has no coverage in this area, so your phone is looking for another provider, that has coverage in that area. (roaming).
There is also a setting about it. Do not know where exactly. I do not have a K700.

Assuming the menu is built the same way as previous se phones, I'd expect it to be under communication. This message was posted from a Z600
