Hi,
I'm having a problem getting the K700 to recognise a voice dial "tag" when spoken through the HBH-600 headset.
The HBH-600 is not active when registering a voice tag so I'm sure the problem is that it sounds different when spoken through the headset compared to when it was recorded (through the phone or the wired headset).
Has anyone else seen this problem? Any work-arounds? Could it be a problem with the phone or headset? (I understand that the firmware is still a bit buggy on the k700)
The obvious solution seems to be record the tag through the bluetooth headset - I would if I could, it doesn't appear to be an option.
Any help gratefully received.

I would be interested to find out where you heard this, Sony indicates that they are compatible and that voice dial is possible. The headset certainly initiates the voice-dial, the phone simply doesn't recognise the spoken tag.

Hi Mark T - I don't have the 600 but the 65 - When i spoke through the headset - it would not recognise the voice tags I had recorded through the phone. Fair enough - I set the headset up for normal voice dialling - clicked the thing and let it fail to find the right voice tag. Then went into the setup voice tags on the phone. just before you record the voice tag - click the headset button and it will take over - now it works really well - hope that it helps with yours - MC

How do I activate voice commands with my HBH-30/35/60/65 and R520?
Make sure you have paired the devices. (If not, see the manuals.)
To improve your hit-rate when using voice-dialling, record all the voice labels through the HBH-30/35/60/65 and make sure the headset and the phone are within range of each other.
Phone settings must be made before you add voice commands. Please follow the instructions below.
Note: Phone numbers must be saved correctly, with your home number under HOME, etc.
1. Select SETTINGS, press “Yes”.
2. Scroll to VOICE CONTROL, press “Yes”.
3. VOICE SETTINGS, press “Yes”.
4. Scroll to VOICE DIALING, press “Yes”.
5. Select ON, press “Yes”.
6. Follow the instructions on the phone.
7. Choose the number type(s) you want to use (Home, Work, Mobile, Other), press “Yes”. Immediately press the call-handling button on the HBH-30/35/60/65. Speak after the higher tone beep.
8. Press the NO key to exit.
Now you need to add a voice command to a name(s) in the phonebook.
1. Enter the PHONEBOOK.
2. Scroll to EDIT CONTACT, press “Yes”.
3. Find the name whose phone number you want add voice command to.
4. Scroll to EDIT VOICE, press “Yes”
5. ADD VOICE COMMAND, press “Yes”
6. Follow the instructions on the phone, press “Yes”. Immediately press the call-handling button on the HBH-30/35/60/65. Speak after the higher tone beep.
7. You have now added a voice command

funny thing is - you follow the procedure and it doesn't feel like it will work - until the second you activate the headset - have to do it quickly the first time after you press "record" on the K700i

On the K700i, if the voice tag is not recognised, the phone asks you if you want to retry. Surely this defeats the object of using bluetooth and a handsfree kit as you have to press the Yes/No button on the phone for it to continue?
Surely this cannot be right, other SE phones I have had ie P900 and T68i didn't have this.
Any other ideas apart from re-recording your voice tag through the bluetooth headset please?

though mine rarely doesn't recognise the name I am saying I have noticed the same and agree it does seem pointless and wrong.
I'm sure there are no other choices except to record the sounds through the headset which is probably better anway as I never use the phone itself for voice dialling

Perhaps we ought to petition SE about this stupid feature and one that in the UK, could cost you a fine for playing with a phone when driving? If we all send our fines for payment to SE, they might take a bit of notice!
I have just sold a Nokia 6600 for this phone and although its a stunning piece of kit, I might have thought twice about it if I had known.

I have just spoken to Sony Ericsson about this problem and after having to take advice twice from fellow CS staff, there apparently is no way round this problem apart from recording your voice tags properly in the first place!
We got into a "discussion" about whether touching the phone to enable you to retry the voice tag was illegal, me saying it was and him saying it wasn't, and that's where it ended. He did say that SE recommend recording your voice tags through the headset but I don't think they say this in the manual to any extent. He also said I was the first person to complain about it and it might be rectified in a firmware update in the future but the phone is too new at the moment. If enough people complain, they might do this earlier than later.
Can anyone in the police service confirm or not that if you lean forward to touch your phone, whether it is in a cradle or not, you are breaking the law?
I think SE have taken a backward step with this.
