> K700 or SX1?
Bookmark topic
I had been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the k700 until I then saw the Siemens SX1. Now I don't know which to get. They're both around the same price, have almost the same features etc.
I'm thinking the SX1 because it has an MMC slot, symbian OS so there are alot of apps and games, the ability to use your own sms tones, and the sms memory is dependant on the overall memory and not limited to 100 like the k700.
On the other hand, the k700 looks sleeker and polished, it doesn't have a weird keypad layout like the SX1, and I have been looking forward to it.
Anyone any suggestions as I really don't know which to get? My mind literally changes every few hours!

The SX1 keypad is a nightmare to use , if you want a s60 phone to choose from over the k700 have a look at the Nokia 7610 (keypad better than sx1) or Nokia 6600 (reliable phone now).
I would still have the k700 though

NOOO. Don't get the SX1. The firmware of it sucks hard and it's worse and worse. Just read some feedback on it and you will see.

I have both. Use them for different purposes. The keypad is ofcourse different on SX1, but not impossible to learn. One has to have good eyes to read the text on K700i, on SX1 it is bigger from the beginning and in some modes you can choose bigger text or smaller. The radio has 20 preset stations on K700i and 6 on SX1. I use my SX1 as MP3 player. SX1 you can update yourself, K700i you have leave to service for update. Difficult choise, so I have both. But I am very curious about S700

Get a 6600 - better than SX1 and cheaper than a 7610. U can get an add on mp3 player for it (mono sound only)

I'm still undecided lol. I think I'm now swinging more towards the SX1.
I don't want a Nokia, to me they're basically all the same. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with them, just when I get a new phone I like it to be new with new menus and buttons and options etc and that's why I've been through lots of phone brands (Motorola, Nokia, Ericsson, Sagem, Siemens). Anyway the 6600 doesn't have a radio (ok it's not a necessity, but nevertheless it's a good bonus) and is only mono mp3.
As someone said about the firmware, in SE's it has to be taken to service centre, I don't know if there are any SE service centres here (N.Ireland), although there are Sony centres.
A phone with the looks of the k700 and features of the sx1 would be perfect

but looks like with whatever I pick i'm going to have to compromise.

LOL, the bugs in the SX1 are from back in the old firmwaredays. FW12 is completely stable, no problems here. The K700 on the other hand...... The SX1 is a super phone. You'll get used to the keyboard, don't worry and the MP3 playback is amazingly good. (I like OGG better) So get the SX1 is my advice.
