Hi Guys

I have just got Remote P900 and intend to leave the phone in the cradle all day, 9am-6pm, during work (won't be leaving the desk much ...).

My question is, is it harmful for the cradle to be in the power socket - ie. will it damage the battery if it's in 'charge' mode all the time, given the green light is permantly lit?

Or should I switch off the power socket, and just have the phone linked to the PC via the cradle?

Thank you in advance

Probably not a good idea to have your phone on charge all the time, you should ideally let it completely run down before charging it. If its on charge all the time you will seriously damage the battery and it wont last any time at all when your out and about.

I disagree completely.

There is nothing mentioned in the manual regarding this being an issue and the charging mechanism will stop charging once the battery is full.

Indeed I have never heard of this being a problem with any cradled devices such as my iPAQ and certainly as has been discussed before, the phones are also designed to be in car kits all day.

Masseur has a point there.

There is nothing like that mentioned in the manual.

However if you believe that it will harm your device then remove the plug. Its up to you.

However some people believe that the battery will be overheated etc. so they dont let it charge. If I remember well there were some discusssions about this issue in the past.

I thought it was a myth that modern batteries, like the one used on P900, suffer from over-charging? And that it was best to charge the batteries as much as possible to prolong battery life. Though, that is kind of irrelevant as I'm wondering whether leaving it on _all_ the time would have a harmful effect.

I guess I'll turn off the power for now and see what others think.

Thanks

I think the battery charging issue has become something of an urban myth. I have never noticed my battery performance degrading significantly and I do leave my P900 charging in the sync station for large parts of the day sometimes.
