> K700i: Undeletable file
Bookmark topic
The other day I tried recording a conversation (or rather a call to my voicemail) with my K700i, basically just to try it out. The file was saved but wasn't given a file name; it exists in the Sounds folder with a speech icon but it hasn't got a name. According to the phone, the file is of "Unknown" length and FMA claims that it's nearly 1.2 GB. Clearly something went wrong in the saving process, but it's impossible to delete the frigging file. And if I try to rename it, the phone claims that the memory is full.
The file doesn't seem to do much harm and I strongly doubt that it actually uses up any significant amount of storage space. Still, it's rather annoying seeing the file in the File manager and not being able to delete it. So I turn to you all - is there anyone who has a solution to my problem?

A master reset would remove it, but thats the last resort.
Id remove the battery for a few minutes, allow the phones RAM to clear and then try again.
Or, try to delete over Bluetooth, IR connection or cable (if you have one).
If all else fail, master reset the phone.

Yeah, I was afraid someone would suggest a master reset. I tried deleting the file using FMA (via cable) but it didn't work.
Thanks for the battery tip, though. I'll try it out.

You can explore your files through many ways.
IR,

, cable.
Also, use other software such as the IR or

browsers, the SE file manager thing that comes with the phone, and FMA.
Some file managers / explorers might not allow you to delete it, but it doesnt mean others wont.
I had a similar problem with my PDA, i couldnt delete a java game on it, so i connected to my pc through Bluetooth and used the Bluetooth browser to delete the file. Worked a treat.

After trying to delete the file using the internal File manager, FMA and the SE Explorer extensions I gave up and chose to do a master reset (after having transferred all pictures, sounds, etc. to the computer). A blank phone that contains less stuff than when I bought it - BUT THE DARN CORRUPTED FILE IS STILL THERE.
Sigh... Any suggestions? Since (to the best of my knowledge) there's nothing more I can do about it, do you think I should hand it in and get a replacement?

Well, call to a SE Service Center!

I just made a call to the SE support in Sweden, and the person I spoke to thought it might be a software issue that could be corrected by updating the firmware which was released a couple of days ago. So he gave me the phone numbers to the two SE service centers in my hometown. I called the service centers and they both told me that they aren't allowed to do updates for another month or two since it's a new model. Instead they have to send all faulty phones to SE, which means that I would have to spend at least a couple of weeks away from my phone.
Thanks for trying to help me out, but I guess I'll just have to live with the undeletable monster for a while.
