I have heard of those MS Duo with memory select function wherein a switch allows you to switch to one of the 128 MB wafers. I was thinking this was better than carrying 2 seperate duo sticks

Any pros / cons to this idea?

Also, where can I buy such memory from (at reasonable price). A search on web points me to MS of such nature but no MS Duo

Please advise...

Only if you don't mind switching on and off your phone, because i doubt it'll handle well the changes when updating the apps list...

As far as I know, MS Duos can be hot swapped. Of course, I dont expect to run a program from a Duo which I just removed.
As for the app list etc... I think it is maintained in the phone memory. Only real execution is from place of installation

This would be the right place and time to correct me if I'm wrong

Coming back to the question... I am mostly on a single duo with apps etc and a little bit of oggs. However, when it comes to watch a full movie, I need to switch to another duo filled almost fully with the movie. I was thinking here I might use the 2nd wafer while avoiding to carry another stick

ah.. btw... masseur has opened another can of worms. I always believed that duo also had select option. However I havent seen any references recently (read something some time back)... so masseur may be right

Anyone who has a conclusive answer for this?

If you have two DUO's with you, why don't you start the phone with one and then then hot sawp to the other one.

With a "select" DUO (if exists) it'll happen the same way...
And your answer appear (if it can be hot swapped or not)

P.S.-BTW the hot swapping issue must be supported by the phone not the DUO...

well I have just had a good look around at all the usual sites and find no evidence that such a duo select exists

In a way yes... phone has to support swapping at a software level.
On the other hand, hardware should be hot swappable else data corruption may occur. All removable storage is designed to support hot swap

Now, if I have 2 duos I know I can use them the way described. The problem is I have to carry this 2nd duo somewhere. Phone doesnt have a place to put it... and before anyone suggests to mod the phone for that, I am exploring the possibility of a memory select duo.

I hope I have set the requirement clear this time

I know a regular memory stick exists in that style. See sonystyles.com, but I have not seen a memory stick duo with that setup.
