Bookmark topic
Hi
Does anyone know if the K700i can be used as a webcam in programmes like 'msn messenger'? If it's possible, how do you do this?
thanks!!

I saw a post once about using the P800 as a webcam, can't remember the title nor the name of the software, so i guess you'll have to

That software was designed for P800 (that is Symbian/UIQ devices) and would never work on a K700. So someone would have to write a javabased application which did this, then you need a cable with high enough transfer unless you make it using BT. Which also would be hard and battery draining.
It's easier to just buy a webcam. =)

you will never get high enough transferspeeds - not even with BT which is the fastest.
So like Lordmike said - get a webcam instead
PS: it didnt work on the P800 either

The transfer speed of BT is more than high enough for web-cam video.
That being said, making the Java software to do this is a large job.
You would probably also need to write software to interface your PC to your phone.

no its not - the k700 transfers at max 24kb/s using BT - and this is not enough for live webcam streaming. Sure if you want to send one picture every 10 second its fine, but not live streaming.

If your information about the K700i's BT speed is correct, I would agree with you. Are you sure you've got the rigth number?

yes Im positive - atleast thats the max speed Im able to transfer files from my K700 to the pc (and back) using BT Obex.
I beleive the limitation lies in the phone - not in the BT protocol which I agree should be able to sustain higher transferspeeds

It was possible with the p800. I tested that myself so why shouldnt the k700 speed be enough?
