> Which network best for upgrading?

I want to get a K700 on contract now, then upgrade to an S700 nearer christmas. Having been on PAYG with my T610 i've not had to upgrade before.
What are your experiences with upgrading your phone; either for free or a small upgrade price?
Is there normally a set time you have to keep a phone before an upgrade is allowed?

It's usually a year, but according to the latest Carphonewarehouse brochure Orange allow earlier upgrading if you pay an extra fee on top of the upgrade price for the handset. The extra fees are expensive though - 0-3 months £250!! 3-7 months £50-£200 7-12 months £0-125 12 months+ free. But beware the K700 on Orange if you want an unmodified UI - see other posts on this forum about this.
T Mobile also allow upgrades after 9 months dependent on handset price. All other networks don't allow upgrades until 12 months, according to this brochure.

O2 do a Gold bolt-on that costs £6 a month but means that they will upgrade your handset every 6 months.

I have only quickly seen an advert for it so dont know the full details. I suspect that you have to subscibe to an expensive tariff for at least a year.

I am currently on the Online 200 package so may invest the extra £6 a month and keep upto date.

I called o2 in Durham and was told you need to pay the £6 bolt-on and also have a monthly bill of over £50 for six months. If this is true whats the point in getting all 200+ free minutes? Unless you talk an awful lot (I don't). I would be gutted if I only spent £49 one month! I'm going to get my K700i from Carphone Warehouse instead.

i think the durham man in the shop is talking turd. not only is it £30, not £50, but it doesn't matter how much extra u spend (on gprs etc) they count your plan's monthly bill so o2 online 200 would be £30 therefore you would qualify, just like it says on the site
