Hi All!
(I'm new to Esato, so please dont blame me if I did anything wrong). I've recently been browsing through this site, and many of you have had problems with your SE k700, because of your network providers, and them not letting you do many things, like set mp3 as ringtone (on vodafone). But if I were to buy a sim-free k700 and then put in a vodafone pay as you go sim-card, will there still be things disabled? Like mp3 as ringtone?

This is what id recommend people to do if they still want to keep Vodaphone as their operator but not have a branded phone.
Buy the phone on sim free or on a very cheap tarrif with another operator and simply use your own sim in the phone instead. I got mine sim free, and im using my T-mobile sim in it at the moment. T-mobile also brand their phones, but my K700 has none of that.

yes all features will be there as the phone would come direct from SE to the shop, and wouldn't have been tampered with by an operator.

I bought my k700i sim free from cpw,and utilise tesco mobile.ive not encountered any probs with mp3,wav or various other files.still tryin to work out the benefits over my 6600 though!the battery life on the se is absolutely awful

if it is a locked vodaphone, it won't be sim-free. there is no such thing as a sim-free locked phone, as sim-free refers it to being sold with no connections or blocks to networks. If you were to get it unlocked it would work on all networks, but the menus would still have the Voda logos, and MP3's probably still won't play.

E.G
I got my K700i on O2 contract from The Link, an independant retailer. If i had got it from the O2 store i would have (probably) got a branded phone.

the thing with o2 is, they don't lock their phones, and the only branding they do put on is the link to the o2 active site on the top left hand corner of the menu screen. personally, if i got that, which i am, i would't be unhappy about it
