I know there have been threads about this problem with older SE handsets (I had the same problem with my T610) but I havn't been able to find a definitive solution, and wondered if anyone had found a way of getting dust out from under their K700 screens.

How does the dust get in there?? I've only had mine for about 3 weeks (great phone ) and i keep it mostly in my pocket/on desk. This is the only thing that really annoys me about the phone. I just hope it doesn't get worse and that there's an easier way of getting rid of the dust than with the t610 and t300...

I think you should consider more why you get dust under the screen

I mean - I have never gotten any dust under any screen of any phone I ever owned - how do you manage to get dust under both your t300, your t610 and now your k700 in under 3 weeks. ? Ive used my T610 in almost a year - no dust.

Seems to me more like an extraordinary dusty environment than a phoneproblem but even so I dont understand how you get it under your phones screen.

Hi! Yes thats crap.Dust gets there threw the speaker hole and there isnt any way that you could rid off dust yourself. I suggest that you bring it to service center and they will clean it for free This message was posted from a WAP device

Well I don't live in an "extraordinary dusty environment" particularly. I also don't understand how it manages to get under the screen, as I can't see where it goes in (thought it may be through joystick) and it doesn't seem to ever move, suggesting no air flow.

I know that other people have the same problem as they have posted about the t610 an other handsets showing the same things before...

The phones fascia is only pressed against the screen, its not a sealed unit so dust will always get inside. I had this problem with my T610. I always used to carry it inside my pocket, and dust would get in through the gaps in the keys, the joystick, the speakerhole.. anywhere really.

Im not a picky person, but when ive got dust inside my phones screen it really annoys me. However, i think ive found a way to keep dust out of your phone. The best thing to do i think is buy a neoprene case, which naturally repels dust, so it wont stick to the case. Since i got mine for my K700, everytime i take the phone out of the case its 100% dust free. Early prevention by using a good case is better than having to dismantle the phone every couple of weeks to remove dust.

Apparently the K700 cover is only held in place by hooks (like older Siemens phones) so theres no screws to deal with. Im not sure how to do it, but i know someone on Esato did manage it (and it was pretty simple) but i dont remember the thread..

The worst thing about the phone is not the dust since i dont have that, its the battery life. its shockingly bad. its terrible. im charging my phone twice a day!

The only way I have for getting the dust out from behind the screen is to actually take the phone apart and use something like a small brush and that cleaning cloth or those for cleaning glasses with to clear it all out.

However, taking the phone apart will probably invalidate your warranty!

I still dont understand how people get dust under their screens. Just like I dont understand those that have lots of scratches on their phones/screens. I understand that keeping your phone unprotected in a pocket - sometimes with keys and coins will do that - a pocket is also not a dustree environment. I keep my phone in a MTU belt case - take it out when I use it - and I never have neither scratches on nor dust under the screen. My one year old T610 still looks brandnew.

My recommendation would be to get one of these.

Hi etaab,
Where did you buy that case? What's the brand? Is it really to the dimension of the phone?
