I'm curious to know how many people use it, i've certainly never used it, and neither has anyone i know, does anyone else think its a little gimmicky, or is it a definate plus?

I have used it from time to time on my weekly BA flights to/from Gatwick/Frankfurt but now that BA have official policy to not allow its use I'm not sure of its value. See the following thread

Flight Mode not accepted in some aircraft

I have also used it, however, simple so that I could use the phone as a PDA without taking calls, rather than putting divert all on

If airlines dont let you use your phone on flights anyway it seems a little pointless, the reason i was asking is im going on holiday next week and wanted to play games while flying, i suppose thats screwed then.

some airlines do allow its use apparantly and if thats where this thread is going it might be better to continue in that other thread (please)

Remove the flip, I'd be surprised if anyone suspects it's a phone.

I had no problem on a flight. Just check before you board your flight

ok well lets stay here

I noticed the last couple of weeks that BA now have changed their wording. They now say all mobile phones and devices that can transmit data should be turned off for the duration of the flight

I'm wondering if this isn't because I pointed out when requesting the official policy from their senior safety officer that there are many PDAs and laptops that use bluetooth and wifi and these surely fall into the same category

... another good use of flight mode is if you are entering a hospital and the "turn of cellular phone" sign is posted. Just put it on flight mode.
