> Fed up with K700i so many problems

I am fed up hearing problems with the K700i, I decided I am not going to get this phone. I want a phone with least problems, I dont mind afew bugs but every forum or websites I visit, people just complain about the K700i, not as a bad phone but bugs and software and hardware problems. I dont read or hear Nokia or Siemens or Samsung having problems with there new phones. I know new phones are now more advanced and stuff so they likely to have afew problems but Idont see any new phones having same problems as with K700i. People are complaining its screen, battery, bluetooth, MP3 etc basically everything. I am now mostly likely to get a samsung phone.

well obviously you have to please yourself but having used it for nearly a month and I use most features daily, calls, wap, camera, music etc, the problems you mention sound much worse than they are and some people do tend to blow them all out of proportion
As quite a fussy person I'm very happy with the phone and though it has hung a couple of times on me it has not made me think once about getting rid of it and I am sure a firmware update or two will resolve those minor issues.

most phones from most company these days have problems when first launched. as they are desparte to try to get to market before the competitors come up with a rival
the k700 is no different and the problems are minor to some major to others
i will guarentee whatever phone you buy if its a new release will have some problems
the reason you dont see stuff on here is that its mostly an se forum so not a lot of nokia people come on here and complain they go to nokia sites and samsung people go to samsung site etc
if you wait a few weeks after a new phone is out you tend to find a new firmware is released and most problems are resolved . i got a n6600 a few weeks ago and read there were a few problems and so far not had a single problem as i have the latest firmware and the phone has been out a while
if you like the k700 dont let the problems put you off just wait a bit for the new firmware

My K700 has been a dream! Looks like its froze a couple of times, but its not, i'm just a bit too click happy. Its just that the screen refresh doesn't appear to be 100% accurate.
I dropped my K700 the other, day i expected it to be totalled, but it still worked, once i'd clipped it all back together!

When you are an early adopter of new phones you are more likely to have bugs on it.

My wife's Nokia 6230 does its fair share of crashing. K700i is superior in almost every way, and hopefully SE will re-enable/officially-launch the firmware update service to clear some of the minor bugs up.

You don't read many forums, do you. Nokia and SE are by far the most discussed phones on the web and as such the total number of reported bugs will of course exceed those of other manufacturers and give an impression of more faulty phones.
Some N6230 bug reports found on howards forum:
1. The Bluetooth turns itself off, and will not turn on again until you switch the phone off, and go through the menu's to re-activate it.
2. SIM Card Rejected - this message shows on my screen everday and I have to restart my phone. This SIM card works in every other phone I have with no issues.
3. About twice a week while the phone is off, the time and date completely reset themselves to "zero" until I sync with my PC.
4. The earpiece nows distorts making any calls uncomfortable - I have not dropped, tapped or done anything to my phone.
5. Dust is making its way into the casing going on the inside of the screen.
6. SMS message tone becomes way to low after a while.
7. Battery indicator accuracy problem.
8. Battery life problem.
9. Memory goes from 9 MB to 4 MB after FW upgrade.
10. Problem of incoming call number which show on screen....as the wallpaper is in dark color ...you are difficult to see the incoming call number.
and on and on it goes.

My K700 is fine. I'm not planning on upgrading the firmware. But it's a sim-free version, so I don't have the woes that people who have it Orange or Vodafone branded have. Get it sim-free and I think you'll be happy with it.
My only woe was battery life in the first couple of days, but now a couple of weeks later and a few charges on, it's fine. OK so it's not the best battery in the world but I'm getting a couple of days out of it now and the phone itself more than makes up for it IMHO

Given the chance, I'll go for the K700i as I have planned a long time ago of acquiring one specially when @masseur made a very detailed review about it
! Though I was a day late when the local network's promo started, all SE fone models were already cleared from their stockroom on day 2 (a week's promo only)
so, I just settled for a Nokia 7610, with no choice left for me, I began loving it dearly
! I was after getting the fone for FREE under contract so I just have to make a choice right there and then, and I just cannot wait for their next promo launching
What I miss with the SE K700i is it's FM Radio, image color settings etc., I guess the only advantage of the 7610 is it's 64 mb external memory + 8 mb internal compared to K700i's 41 mb internal memory only
Having experienced some technical problems will be a case-to-case basis I guess mate
From the ones you've heard, they are the unlucky ones, but with that, probabilities are high that you'll end up getting a defective one too
@arne anka - I guess the problem you posted about the Nokia 6230 will not apply to 'ALL' mate
My Dad acquired his last April 2004, and have not experienced even 'ONE' of the issues you raised/posted back then, accdg. to @howard
Technical problems occur on a case-to-case basis and not in general, mate
